How it all started for Schweitzer's Educational Services.
My name is Gary Schweitzer and I am the owner of Schweitzer's Educational Services. I have taught live three day continuing education workshops in Canada, the United States and Europe for twelve years to Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists and Chiropractors. My workshop was focused on the primary goal of eliminating existing occupational strain and injury for professionals who provide hands-on soft tissue manipulation. To date I have taught over 1500 practitioners.
I created a very valuable workshop that has been proven to eliminate occupation strain and injury. What I couldn't figure out is why more health care professionals didn't attend these valuable training sessions.
I didn't dawn on me until I got married at the age of 44 and had a kid at age 48 why many chose not to attend. What I realized is that as a parent your life gets really, really busy and it takes a tremendous amount of energy just to keep up. It also costs a small fortune to raise a child. Now don't get me wrong. The best thing that happened to me was having this kid. The deep love and connection I feel for him is the greatest gift I have ever received.
I just couldn't justify getting on a plane or driving any great distance to attend a live workshop to get my own required CE hours or teach one of my own courses for that matter. I simply didn't want to be away from my son and I also wanted to be around to help out my wife.
That is when the light went on for me. I decided to develop CE courses that were available through distance education. My first CE program is an anatomy and regional orthopedic pathology program based on the hand painted anatomy illustrations and textual library of Dr. Frank Netter M.D.
So if you are like me, your life is really busy. You've got kids to look after that you don't want to be away from or you're busy pursuing one of your passions. Your practice is screaming busy and you don't want to take your eyes off of it for one second. You don't want to lose a ton of money while being away attending live CE workshops. My vision is to develop a whole catalogue of CE Courses for a variety of health care professionals. The courses I develop are cutting edge, content rich and provide an interactive and engaging experience.
What I believe is that in today's busy world with running a professional practice, balancing time in the office and time spent with family and leisure activities, time in itself is our most precious commodity. Also, it can cost a small fortune to attend live CE workshops. When you factor in lost revenue from being away from your practice, the cost of travel, hotels, meals and the cost of the seminars themselves you can be out of pocket literally thousands of dollars.
The ability to fulfill your CE requirements without having to travel to live workshops so that you can save valuable time and money is what we stand for. What separates us from all the other online CE course developers is that our programs are modular. What that means is you have the flexibility to pick and choose the modules you need to fulfill your CE requirements for a particular cycle and you can save the unused modules for the following cycle. We also choose topics that add value to you in your practice and the courses tend to review, remind and expand what you once knew about a particular subject that you may have forgotten over time.
